Oh My Word

I had to change up the photo for these posts. I am really excited about this one because the first “OhMyWord” graphic was the first one I ever did on GIMP so I like to think that I’ve gotten a tad better since then.Inexorable {in-ek-ser-uh-buhl} is the word for the week. It means to be unyielding and unalterable. Not to be persuaded, moved or affected by prayers or entreaties.

“Such was Herod the Great — a body broken by disease, a conscience seared with crimes, a mind magnificently capable, a soul fit for brotherhood with the Caesars; now seven-and-sixty years old, but guarding his throne with a jealousy never so vigilant, a power never so despotic, and a cruelty never so inexorable.”  Ben-Hur, book 1, chapter 13, page 62

In this chapter is the meeting between Herod and the three wise men in search of the King of the Jews, the promised Messiah, the baby Jesus.

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” {Matthew 2:1-2; you can read the whole chapter here}
