What it’s all about

christmas5It’s easy to allow yourself to get carried away during the Christmas season. Decorating the tree is pretty exciting {especially when you have an 11 month old “helping”}. Putting up lights around your house is festive {sometimes dangerous}. Hanging stockings and putting up advent calendars to count down the days makes anticipation rise. Pulling out those scented candles makes you want to bake a thousand sugar cookies.  The shopping can get a little crazy but you feel great about purchasing gifts for the ones you love.  Everything around you screams “Christmas!!!” Even the crisp, cool air.But what is it really about?

If it wasn’t for the Lord Jesus Christ, Christmas would be a shallow event.  He is our true present and the best one we could ever receive. Our gift that, if we would only take it, is not one that will ever break or tear, become dusty or fade.

What is that gift, you ask?

Eternal Life.

The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” {John 3:16} That’s the Christmas story right there.  Because God loved us and saw there was no way for us to ever save ourselves, He sent His only Son to be born of a virgin in that little town of Bethlehem.  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” {Romans 3:23}. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” {Romans 6:23}. All we must do is “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” {Acts 16:31}.

Will you except His Gift?
